is that it increases the amount of work the server must do, and so it may degrade performance so if a share point contains items that users will never need to search, clear the Enable Spotlight Searching check box For example, there s no reason to use Spotlight on your NetBootClients0 and NetBootSP0 share points
Choosing Whether to Enable a Share Point as a Time Machine Backup Destination

Changing the Protocols Used for a Share Point
The next thing you can change about a share point is the protocols used As I mentioned, Server Admin sets up each share point with AFP and SMB (if you re running SMB), so from the get-go the share point is configured for Macs, Windows boxes, and other SMB-capable clients to access If you have only Macs, you may want to turn off SMB It s also possible but less likely you may want to use FTP or NFS on the share point Or you may want to change the settings for AFP or SMB To make any of these changes, open up the Protocol Options dialog box like this: 1 In the File Sharing pane in Server Admin, click the share point you want to change (If the Volumes button is selected, click the Share Points button to display the share points) 2 In the lower pane, click the Share Point tab if it s not already selected 3 Click the Protocol Options button 4 Click the tab for the protocol you want to configure AFP, SMB, FTP, or NFS You can then choose settings as described in the following sections
