Using Barcode creator for ASP.NET Control to generate, create QR Code JIS X 0510 image in ASP.NET applications.
The two groups of exception classes are checked and unchecked Checked exception classes must be included in a method s throw list if the method can throw the exceptions and doesn t catch the exceptions This is because the Java compiler checks to see whether a catch block will handle these exceptions That is, a checked exception must be explicitly handled either by being caught or by being declared as thrown Unchecked exception classes are exceptions that you don t need to include in a method s throw list because the compiler does not check to see whether a catch block will handle those exceptions Both checked and unchecked exceptions are defined in the javalang package, which is implicitly imported into all Java programs Table 9-1 contains a list of unchecked exception classes, and Table 9-2 contains a list of checked exception classes

Exception
Java Unchecked Exception Classes (continued)
Description Class not found Attempt to clone an object that does not implement the Cloneable interface Access to a class is denied Attempt to create an object of an abstract class or interface One thread has been interrupted by another thread A requested field does not exist A requested method does not exist An exception occurred during an input/output process An exception occurred when interacting with a database management system using SQL
ClassNotFoundException CloneNotSupportedException IllegalAccessException InstantiationException InterruptedException NoSuchfieldException NoSuchMethodException IOException SQLException

Java Checked Exception Classes
Creating an Exception Subclass
Many programmers define their own exception classes rather than use Java s built-in exception classes This enables them to tailor exceptions to the specific needs of their Java programs You, too, can define your own exception class by creating a
CHAPTER 9 Exception Handling
subclass of Java s Exception class That is, you must extend the RuntimeException class As you ll recall from 8, a subclass is a class that inherits another class The class that is being inherited is called a superclass The superclass of all exception subclasses is Java s Exception class The Exception class is itself a subclass of the Throwable class The Throwable class defines several very useful methods that help to handle an exception Your subclass inherits these methods This means you can use those methods as if you defined them in your subclass Table 9-3 contains a listing of the methods defined in the Throwable class You can override any of them (see 8)
Method Throwable fillInStackTrace() String getLocalizedMessage() String getMessage() void printStackTrace() Description Returns a throwable object that contains a complete stack trace This object can be rethrown Returns a localized description of the exception Returns a description of the exception Displays the stack trace
void Sends the stack trace to the specified stream printStackTrace(PrintWriter stream) String toString() Returns a String object containing a description of the exception This method is called by println() when outputting a Throwable object
