Select the six edges around the hole and extrude the mouth just a bit Move the vertices around so that they define the outer part of the nostril of the nose To create the center lip of the nose, choose Mesh | Append to Polygon Click the small edge at the top of the nostril areas and then click the small edge on the opposite, lower part of the nostril To complete the append, you must press ENTER The Append to Polygon command creates a new face that is automatically merged into the shape, shown in the adjacent image

Using Barcode generator for Software Control to generate, create bar code image in Software applications.
Creating UCC - 12 In None
Using Barcode printer for Software Control to generate, create EAN128 image in Software applications.
Select the five edges along the border of the hole and extrude them Immediately after executing the Extrude command, use the Scale tool to scale the extruded edges inward to create the lip of the nostril Extrude one more time, this time moving the extruded edges upward to create the inside of the nose The result should look like this:

We will extrude the last patch from all of the outer edges around the existing model This will define the forehead, down through the side of the head into the area where the chin joins the top of the neck

Move the vertices around so that they match the underlying image plane The final layout of the patches is shown here:
This completes the creation of the structural layout of the head From here on, we will just be adding detail to refine the areas Because this structure works well for just about any humanoid character, you may want to save it and use it as a starting point, or template, for all future models Since there is very little geometry, you would be able to move the vertices around to quickly match the features of a different face
Remember to save your work often
Mirror the Model
As we begin to detail the face, we ll get a better sense of the model s shape and proportion if we view it as an entire head Maya has a Mirror Geometry command that creates a mirrored half of the geometry and combines it with the original However, at this stage of the modeling process, we want to work on only one half of the model Instead of using the Mirror Geometry command, we will create an instanced copy of the model with the Duplicate command When geometry is instanced, a copy is created with the shape nodes of the geometry connected This way, when a shape is edited on one piece of geometry, those edits propagate onto the instance as well

Select the model and choose Edit | Duplicate Special r to open the Duplicate Special Options window, shown in Figure 4-11 Set the Geometry Type attribute to Instance This connects the shape node of the duplicate object to the original To mirror the instance, set the Scale X attribute to 1 The settings should match those shown in Figure 4-11 Click the Apply button The instanced copy is created Before we leave the Duplicate Special Options window, choose Edit | Reset Settings and close the window This sets the options back to their defaults This is important because duplicating objects is something that is quite common, and most of the time you want to freely create normal copies when you use the Duplicate command

Before resetting the
Duplicate options, you may wish to create a shelf button that stores these settings This makes mirror instances quicker to create in the future
