How to Consume a Web Service
A web service is not all that useful if we need to use it in the convoluted way we did in the previous section Instead, we need a way to get access to the service through software This section will take you through the steps needed to consume a web service Microsoft uses the term consume to mean connect to and use in the context of web services, so we will use the same terminology in this chapter The first step in consuming a web service is to create an interface for the client application so that it can communicate with the web methods in the service This interface is called a proxy, and it communicates with the web service on behalf of the client application The proxy resides on the client once it is created
