Using Barcode maker for Software Control to generate, create barcode image in Software applications.
Collector-initiated events require that all computers exist in the same domain The collector computer is reaching out and retrieving the events from the computers, and the domain provides an added layer of security Figure 11-4 shows the properties of a new subscription being created and computers being added You can see in the figure that the subscription type is set to Collector Initiated You click the Select Computers button, and then you re able to add computers that exist in the domain In the figure, a computer named mcitp1 in the mcitpsuccesscom domain is being added

Using Barcode encoder for Java Control to generate, create Code 128A image in Java applications.
In source-initiated events, the source computers are configured to forward the events to the collector You can add both domain and non-domain computers to a source-initiated event, but non-domain computers must use certificates to authenticate Figure 11-5 shows the screens for a source-initiated subscription
Figure 11-5
Configuring a source-initiated subscription
11: Using Maintenance and Diagnostic Tools
Notice that both a non-domain computer (MCITP22) and a domain computer (MCITPSUCCESS\MCITP) have been added Additionally, a certificate has been added to provide authentication for MCITP22 Authentication within the domain is handled by Kerberos
Configuring Advanced Subscription Properties
The advanced subscription properties can be accessed by clicking the Advanced button Figure 11-6 shows the advanced properties from a collector-initiated subscription A source-initiated subscription does not have the User Account selections
Figure 11-6 Configuring advanced subscription settings
The event delivery optimization choices determine how many events will be included, and how often events will be sent when they are sent to the collector The Minimize Bandwidth selection sends events less often, the Minimize Latency sends events more often, and the Normal setting is a balance between the two choices The protocol determines if the events will be sent in an encrypted format using HTTPS or a plain text format using HTTP HTTP is selected by default The well-known ports for HTTP and HTTPS are 80 and 443, respectively Along the same lines, if firewalls are enabled on either the source or collector computers, you must also open up port 443 when using HTTPS
Configuring the Source Computer for an Event Subscription
In order for the source computer to forward events to the collector, it must be configured Consider the following choices when configuring the source computer:
You will use the WinRM command-line tool to configure the basics on the source computer
MCITP Windows Vista Support Technician All-in-One Exam Guide
If the computer is not a member of a domain and you want to configure a source computer initiated subscription, you must include a certificate for authentication If you want to send the events in an encrypted format, you must open port 443 on the firewalls of the source and collector computers EXAM TIP Make sure you know what needs to be done on the source computer to configure it for subscriptions
The Windows Remote Management command-line tool (WinRM) is used to implement the WS-Management protocol, which provides a secure way to communicate with local and remote computers The command used to configure the source computer is
WinRM quickconfig
TIP You can run this command from the command line with administrative privileges to view it If you don t want to configure the computer but instead just want to view the command, simply click N for no when the command prompts you for approval After issuing this command, it will inform you that it will perform several actions if you approve It will
Set the WinRM service to delayed autostart Start the WinRM service Create a WinRM listener on HTTP://* and accept management requests Enable the WinRM firewall exception
All you have to do is click Yes to access the changes Remember, this is done on the source computer so that events can be forwarded to the collector
