How many cells are present in the adult human body, Hippocrates Well, there are billions and billions of cells! The gastrula generally occurs during the second week after fertilization and zygote formation A tiny yolk sac develops and helps nourish the growing embryonic (embree-AHN-ik) body A protective membrane called the amnion (AM-nee-un) surrounds the developing body, as if it were gently sheltering a little lamb Clear amniotic (am-nee-AH-tik) uid provides shock absorption within the uterus, and tiny limb buds poke out from the body surface
