Lastly, premium journaling supports the replication of journal rules Unlike standard journaling, which only establishes the per-mailbox database journaling rule on the mailbox server hosting the mailbox database, premium journaling runs on Hub Transport servers, so all premium journaling rules are stored within Active Directory and are, therefore, accessible to all Hub Transport servers This means that any journaling rule you establish will run on all Hub Transport servers When configuring premium journaling, you first need to ensure that the Journaling Agent is enabled See the previous section Journaling for information on how to do this Next, you will configure the individual journal rules within the Exchange Management Console Navigate to the Hub Transport node under Organization Configuration in the console tree, and select the Journaling tab in the results pane, as shown in Figure 17-7 Click the New Journaling link in the action pane to start the New Journaling Rule Wizard, shown in Figure 17-8 Provide a name for the rule, and specify the e-mail address of the recipient that will receive copies of all messages meeting the criteria within this rule Next, specify a scope for your rule If you stop here and click Next, the rule will

Journal Reports
Figures 17-9 and 17-10 show a simple example of premium journaling, including one concept we haven t discussed yet journal reports A message is created in the mailbox of Ryan Allan, the recipient specified in the journaling rule I created (see Figure 17-6) Because the message falls under the scope of the journaling rule I created earlier, a journal report is automatically created in the Journal Mailbox, shown in Figure 17-10 Unlike standard journaling, where a copy of the message is simply placed in the specified journaling mailbox with no added information about the journaled messages, with premium journaling, a journal report is placed in the specified journaling mailbox Besides saving an unaltered copy of the journaled message as an attachment, the report itself provides details about the message as well to ensure that as much information about the attached message is available For example, you normally cannot see if anyone
