In Figure 6-13 we re checking only the data columns that we now suspect may play an interesting role in the toxic chemical release data We then re-run the Detect Categories data mining tool to see the revised results shown in Figure 6-14

With the cleaner data display shown in Figure 6-14, we can simply uncheck anomalous values, such as Missing data, to see a coherent Excel table of data associations The Detect Categories task also generates the PivotChart shown in Figure 6-15, which can be manipulated to show a compelling graphical representation of newly discovered data associations

It s great that Excel 2007 supports this kind of advanced PivotChart with a multiseries data display and it s automatically generated by the Detect Categories data mining tool This is a good example of the value of bringing advanced analysis tools into our familiar Excel working desktop environment This analysis and display supports a line of questioning that might lend support to the often-mentioned hypothesis that toxic chemicals show up in economically poor areas of the country, where the populace cannot afford to fight polluters Figure 6-16 shows how we can edit the generic Category labels to reflect the discoveries we ve made in our data association analysis
