Disabled Application Add-Ins Automatically disabled because they caused programs to crash To choose more add-ins, click the Manage field down arrow and choose from the list of available add-ins Then click Go and choose the options that you want
Choosing Trust Center Options
The Microsoft Office Trust Center (see Figure 16-10) was designed to protect against hackers that can do harm with add-ins Microsoft has designed specific criteria that add-ins must meet to be accepted Click the hyperlinks to see more information about the criteria

CHAPTER
Improving Database Performance
n this hectic information age, we re always looking for ways to speed up operations and improve the accuracy and consistency of the results Optimization is the ultimate goal, and stacking up performance improvements is a way to get close to that goal Access helps you create efficient databases by offering many tools, including the Analyzer wizards, which examine the organization of your database and suggest ways that you can improve the distribution of information among the tables and speed overall database performance One of the most important goals of a database is to maintain accurate and complete information A tool that was new in Access 2003 helps you to prevent errors by publishing the interdependencies among your database objects So, for example, if you rename or delete an object, you can determine what else is affected by the change For security and reliability, Access tools let you back up and restore databases in case of emergency Other tools compact the database to take up less disk space and repair damaged databases
Optimizing a Database
Access provides two analytical tools that can save you a lot of time and help you optimize a new database You can also help to optimize the performance of a database, without using the analyzers, by focusing on each of the elements that make up the database for example, the user s access to the database, and the features of the database, including the filters and indexes, as well as the objects themselves
Using the Analyzer Wizards
The Table Analyzer Wizard examines the distribution of data among the tables and presents suggestions and ideas for further improvements The Performance Analyzer looks at any or all of the objects in the database and makes suggestions for improving their performance The Performance Analyzer can also examine the relationships that you ve established in the database and the set of all Visual Basic code modules in the database, including class and standard modules Both of these tools are available on the Database Tools tab s Analyze command group
