To make a change in one of the wizard s masks, select the mask first in the Input Mask Wizard dialog box, and then click Edit List and proceed to make the desired changes Three sections separated by semicolons are available in an input mask definition, as you saw in the Telephone input mask created earlier by the wizard: !\(999 ) 000\-0000;;_

Entering and Editing Data
The first section contains the mask itself, which has some interesting features The exclamation mark tells Access to enter the characters from left to right The opening parenthesis is preceded by a backslash telling Access that the character that follows is a literal character The closing parenthesis and the space that follows it are enclosed in quotation marks to indicate that they re also literals The dash separating parts of the phone number is also preceded by a backslash indicating a literal The second section determines whether to store the literal characters with the data Enter 0 in this section to store the characters; enter 1 or leave it blank to store only the characters entered in the fill-in spaces in the mask In this example, the second section is blank The third section specifies the character to use as the blank fill-in spaces in the displayed mask For example, you would type a plus sign to use + in place of the default underline character If you want to leave the fill-in spaces blank, type (with a space between the double quotation marks)
