Use Hold to Suspend Records
When you create a Records Center site, a Holds list is created within the site that can be used to apply a hold to a document to override an expiration policy feature that may be in force on the document Included on the Holds list are some tools to help the Records Center administrator find, view, hold, and release documents
Create a Hold
To create a Hold item on the Holds lists, perform the following steps: 1 Open the Records Center site, and then click the Holds link under the Lists heading in the Quick Launch menu 2 On the Holds list, click the New button to open its drop-down menu and choose New Item to open the Holds: New Item page (see Figure 9-19) 3 Enter a title for the hold, such as the name of the event or activity that the documents must be held for 4 Optionally, enter a description that further explains the purpose of the hold 5 Enter the name of the person or group responsible for managing the hold and the records affected by it 6 Click the OK button to create the hold

Add a Record to a Hold
If a particular record requires a hold, that record can be added directly to the hold from its current list or library To add a record to a Hold list, do the following: 1 Navigate to the list or library containing the record to be added to a Hold list 2 Select the record to open its drop-down menu and click the Manage Holds option to open the Item Hold Status page (see Figure 9-20) 3 Choose the Add To A Hold option and then select the Hold list to which you want to add the record A record can be added to multiple Hold lists, but they must be configured one at a time If you wish to remove the hold at a later date, simply choose the Remove From A Hold option 4 Enter a comment if needed 5 Click the Save button to add the record to the Hold
