Schedule Parameter
In several of the commands above, a schedule parameter is required that sets the schedule for the particular option These are verbose ways of scheduling, as shown in the following examples:
Schedule Parameter example values: "every 5 minutes between 0 and 59" "hourly between 0 and 59" "daily at 15:00:00" "weekly between Fri 22:00:00 and Sun 06:00:00" "monthly at 15 15:00:00" "yearly at Jan 1 15:00:00"

Extending the STSAdm Tool
The STSAdm tool provides you with most everything you want to do with SharePoint, but what if you want to do something special, say, implement your own backup processing Also, what if you needed this to be a class so that it could be accessible elsewhere The answer is extending the STSAdm command-line tool This happens to be an extensible tool (like everything else in SharePoint), and it enables you to add your own custom command in just a few steps! The magic happens in a set of configuration files under the SharePoint Hive and your own custom class Rather than wasting extra time writing about it, you re going to jump right in and create an extension; your command in this case will simply check the existence of a site showing how to do both the extension and how the class can access the SharePoint Object Model 1 Open Visual Studio 2005 and create a new Class Library project called ExtendingSTSAdm 2 When the project opens, in the Solution Explorer, rename the file from Class1cs to CheckSitecs 3 Add the following code (I ve noted the additional namespaces needed; again, this is C# so VB folks will have to translate) Be sure to add a project reference to SharePoint:
using using using using using using System; SystemCollectionsGeneric; SystemText; SystemCollectionsSpecialized; MicrosoftSharePoint; MicrosoftSharePointStsAdmin;
// Need for StringDictionary // Need for SharePoint Obj Model // Need for ISPStsadmCommand
namespace ExtendingSTSAdm { // To wrap us in the STSAdm tool, you inherit from the // ISPStsadmCommand class; this has only two methods: // GetHelpMessage returns a message when the users enters // stsadm -help <Command> // Run executes the actual functionality public class CheckSite : ISPStsadmCommand { public string GetHelpMessage(string CommandPassed) { string ReturnMessage = "stsadm -o CheckForSite -url <-url>\r\n"; return ReturnMessage; } public int Run(string command, SystemCollectionsSpecializedStringDictionary keysPassed, out string output) { output = ""; string TestURL = ""; bool SiteFound = false; SPSite Check4SiteSite = null; SPWeb TopSite = null; //
