Working with Calendar
The toolbar in the main Calendar window is used to navigate the calendar, change views, and perform various tasks The toolbar is shown in the illustration The buttons are:
New Appointment Creates a new appointment in a calendar New Task Creates a new task in a calendar

Creating Appointments
There are two sorts of entries you ll find in Windows Calendar: tasks and appointments The next section will concern itself with creating tasks This section examines appointments Figure 7-16 shows a sample appointment As the figure shows, the appointment includes a title and location

When you create an appointment, you can indicate start and end times Alternately, you can indicate that it runs all day As with other calendar applications, you can also: Indicate whether an appointment repeats daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly Set alarms so that you are notified prior to an appointment List and invite other attendees Add notes to an appointment
To create an appointment: 1 Start Windows Calendar 2 Under the Calendars section, select the calendar you want to work with 3 In the Day or Week view, right-click the date and time of the appointment, and then select New Appointment from the context menu 4 If you d rather work in the Month view, right-click the date on which the appointment occurs, and then select New Appointment from the context menu 5 Click the Details button in the Day, Week, or Month view on the right 6 In the text box at the top of the details pane, type a title for the appointment

7 In the Location text box, type the location for the appointment 8 Use the Appointment Information options to set the start and end times for the appointment 9 If your new appointment should repeat, set the relevant repeat options 10 If you want to be reminded prior to the appointment, use the Reminder options 11 If you want to specify participants, click the Attendees button You can select the contacts or contact groups you want 12 If you want to send invitations to attendees, click Invite You will then be able to send an e-mail message to the attendees 13 If you want to add notes to the appointment, type this information in the boxes provided under the Notes heading The appointments you ve created on your calendar or calendars to which you ve subscribed are displayed in the Day, Week, and Month views If the details pane is hidden, double-clicking an appointment displays the details of the appointment NOTE If you are working with multiple calendars, it s a good idea to use color-coding to help you distinguish between calendars Clicking a calendar under the Calendars heading allows you to indicate what color to associate with the calendar
