incoming SmartSignature traffic is handled differently to enhance security As previously indicated, the transactions are not stored on the normal SMS side of the SIM; they go into a separate SmartSignature region and the user has to enter a separate Login PIN to access them The actual screen display depends on the FormPages used by the service provider Each service provider can use its own FormPage designs to provide a specific service function to the user These service provider FormPages are signed by the service provider The service provider s public keys are certified by a certificate authority, and the mobile operator vouches for the correct transfer of the keys from the certificate directory to the user s mobile phone Once the FormPage is received, the Smart Signature application verifies the FormPage with that service provider s keys and the customer is ready to do business Once new services have been activated, the user can check the inbox listing for received messages for all of the selected service providers Of course, customers don t want to use certain types of services or service providers forever Sometimes they want to switch banks or they decide that it isn t that important to order flowers using their phone after all In these cases, the user can easily remove the unwanted service provider templates from the phone menu by using a built-in delete option In fact, the customer has several options in changing or deleting service provider functions The customer can delete a SP totally and all messages will be discarded in the future or can leave the menu intact but request that service provider not send any push messages The service providers also have some options on determining how the messages that they send can be handled by the user A message can be set to be deleted automatically after the user has seen it, eg, a stock price notification, or other type of share information will be deleted once the user has displayed it Typically, the most time-sensitive information will be deleted after reading, whereas a bill can be displayed, stored, and checked later for payment; the bill will be deleted when it has been accepted and paid Because of the limited storage capacity of the SIM, there is no history file presently available for past transactions The number of service providers that SmartSignature can handle is based on how much memory is on the card and how much space the mobile operator requires for its dedicated network section Each service provider requires some amount of space in addition to the various FormPage templates and the messages The system can instantly accept messages without caching those in memory or storing them
