To set up an alert, begin by clicking the Setup Alerts button in the Property & Debt Alerts area. The Setup tab of the Alerts Center window appears. Click the name of the alert you want to set on the left side of the window to display its options on the right. Figure 15-3 shows what the Insurance Reappraisal alert settings might look like with two alerts already set. Two alerts apply to Net Worth:
Insurance Reappraisal (see Figure 15-3) notifies you before an insurance policy expires so you can either re-evaluate coverage or shop for a new policy. Mortgage Reappraisal notifies you before a mortgage changes from variable to fixed (or fixed to variable) so you can consider refinancing. Even if your

mortgage doesn t convert, you can use this alert to remind you periodically to check for better mortgage deals. Both alerts work pretty much the same way. For each alert, enter a name and date in the right side of the window. Select one of the options at the bottom of the window to indicate how you want the alert to appear: as text in the alert list (refer to Figure 15-2) or as a pop-up dialog that appears when you start Quicken. Finally, use the drop-down list to specify the length of time the alert should remain in the list and click Apply. Repeat this process for each alert you want to set. When you re finished, click OK.
Working with Property and Debt Alerts
The Options pop-up menu at the top of the Property & Debt Alerts area and two buttons at the bottom of the area (refer to Figure 15-2) offer several options for working with alerts:
Show All Alerts (menu option and button) displays the Show All tab of the Alerts Center window, so you can see all alerts set up in Quicken. Set Up Alerts (menu option and button) displays the Setup Alerts tab of the Alerts Center window, so you can add an alert. Delete and Delete All (menu options) display the Delete Alert(s) dialog, which you can use to delete either the selected alert (and all alerts like it) or all alerts. These options are only available when you have set up at least one alert.
