When you click OK, Quicken annualizes the amounts and enters them in the Living Expenses tab. One thing to keep in mind here: Don t include expenses that you may have already included for an asset. For example, if you included car insurance expenses in the Homes And Assets dialog as an expense associated with an automobile, don t include them again here. Doing so would duplicate the expense and overstate your annual expenses. At the bottom of the dialog, you can enter a percentage of surplus cash cash left over after paying living expenses that you want to put into savings.

Reviewing and Changing Assumptions
You can review and modify your plan assumptions at any time. Quicken offers a number of ways to do this.
The Plan Assumptions Area
Once you enter assumptions into the Quicken Planner, a brief summary of the assumptions appears in the Plan Assumptions area in the Planning tab (see Figure 16-1). To open this window, either click the Planning tab or choose Planning | Go To Planning. You can click links in the Plan Assumptions area to open the same dialogs discussed earlier in this chapter. Review and change plan assumptions as desired and click Done in the dialog to save them.
The Planning Assumptions Window
A better way to review plan assumptions is in the Planning Assumptions window (see Figure 16-2). To open this window, choose Planning | Planning Assumptions, or click the Change Assumptions button in the Plan Assumptions or Plan: Results area of the Planning tab. You can use links on the left side of the window to navigate quickly from one category of assumption to another. The details appear in the main part of the window. Each category of assumption offers two links:
How Is This Used explains how the information in that category of assumption is used in the plan. Edit enables you to edit the assumptions for that category, using the same dialogs discussed earlier in this chapter.
