Quicken Program Preferences
As the name suggests, Quicken Program preferences control Quicken s general appearance and operations. To access these options, choose Edit | Preferences | Quicken Program. The Quicken Preferences dialog appears. It lists a variety of preference categories, each of which is discussed next.
Startup
Startup preferences enable you to specify what should appear when you start Quicken. Use the drop-down list to select Quicken Home (the default setting), one of Quicken s Centers, or one of your accounts. You can also choose one of the predefined color schemes for the Quicken program: Blue (the default), Green, Purple, or Tan.
Setup
Setup preferences enable you to set a number of general Quicken configuration options. Four groups of preference settings appear.
Setup Setup options, which are illustrated next, control basic Quicken operations:

Account Bar Display lets you position the Account Bar on either the left (default) or right side of the screen. I tell you more about the Account Bar and how to customize it in s 1 and 3. Side Bar Display lets you control the display and position of the side bar. Show Side Bar displays the side bar or its tabs on the right side of the Quicken application window. Dock Side Bar expands the side bar to display its contents, rather than just its tabs. I tell you more about the side bar in 1. Keyboard Mappings enables you to change what certain standard Windows keyboard shortcuts do. In most Windows programs, the CTRL-Z, CTRL-X, CTRL-C, and CTRL-V shortcut keys perform commands on the Edit menu. Because these commands have limited use within Quicken, you can map several Quicken-specific commands to these keys. Select the option as shown in Table B-1 for the mapping you want.
