Quicken s extensive online account access features make it possible to automate data entry for accounts held in participating financial institutions, including many brokerage firms. To take advantage of these features, Quicken starts the account creation process for Standard Brokerage, IRA or Keogh Plan, or 401(k) or 403(b) accounts by prompting you to enter the name of your brokerage firm. Choosing a Setup Option
If the account is held at a brokerage firm that supports Quicken s online features, a dialog with three setup options appears:

Yes, Connect To Firm Name Through Quicken enables you to complete the account setup process by going online and downloading information from your brokerage firm. This is the recommended method for completing account setup. To do this, you must already have a customer ID and PIN for accessing your account information via Quicken. If you select this option, click Next and continue following instructions in 11. No, I ll Visit My Brokerage Web Site To Download Transactions Into Quicken Myself enables you to complete the account setup process by manually entering account information, with the assumption that you ll eventually download transaction information from the financial institution s Web site and import it into Quicken. No, I ll Manually Enter My Transactions Into Quicken enables you to complete the account setup process by manually entering account information. You can use this option if you don t have a customer ID and PIN or are not interested in setting up the account for online features. You can always enable online features later; I explain how in 11. If you select this option, click Next and continue following instructions in the section titled Completing the Account Setup Manually.
