There are a number of different ways to create entity objects. You might create multiple entity objects in one pass using the Create Business Components from Tables wizard, or you might create them one at a time, through either a wizard or a diagram. It is really up to you to choose which way suits the job at hand, and this is something you will explore through this chapter. Regardless of which method you use, you still create the same entity object. At this point, you ve created a business service based on a bunch of database tables, but you now realize you need to access information about departments as well. How do you add this to your existing business service It s simple. To create an entity object based on departments, select your Model project and the package in which you want to create the entity objects. Select File | New and, in the New Gallery dialog, select ADF Business Components and then Entity Object. This launches the Create Entity Object wizard that takes you through the steps to create a single entity object. Select the Database Schema OE and for Schema Object enter DEPARTMENTS. Click Finish to create a default entity object based on all columns, or click Next to navigate through the wizard.

Synchronizing Entity Objects with Database Changes
Having previously created an entity object, you might find that your DBA has made some changes to the underlying table, and so the table and the entity object are now out of synch. If you ever need to resynchronize your entity object with the underlying table, right-click the entity object in the Application Navigator and select Synchronize with Database. This will allow you to update the entity object with the table changes. NOTE This feature does not support synchronizing all possible database changes, such as dropped database columns or data type changes. For these cases you have to manually delete the entity object attribute or change the attribute data type.
