more than you really need. In this case you can use a Note Window component as a child of the Popup component. This is particularly useful if, for example, you want to display some additional information about a product and don t require the visual overhead of a pop-up dialog. You also have some options on how you display this pop-up note window. Rather than displaying the pop-up note window when a button is clicked, you might want to define that it be displayed when the user hovers over, or clicks in, a specific field.

the user double-clicks on the product name; however, it might not be very clear to the end user that this feature exists. Wouldn t it be nice if there was a visual indicator to show the user that there is more information associated with the field Well, there is a simple way to provide such an indicator. Drag and Drop
You have already seen that some components, like an ADF Faces Table, include built-in functionality to drag and drop columns within the table. However, you can add further drag-and-drop behavior to your application by using the drag-and-drop ADF Faces components. The basics of drag and drop are generally the same: ADF Faces provides a number of operation components that can indicate the source of a drag operation and the drop area. Each of these components would be a child of the UI component for which the drag or drop operation applies. In the simplest case, you don t require any additional coding to implement drag and drop; however, for more complex cases like shopping carts, where you might be storing a collection of items, you can also define a managed bean that can be used to handle the collection of dropped data.

Drag-and-Drop Attribute Values
Let s take a look at a simple example of how to implement drag and drop. In this example, you want to give the end user the ability to drag and drop the customer s first or last name into the E-mail Address field. Given that the customer s e-mail address is nearly always based on their first or last name, this might save the end user a few extra key presses. Simply drag an Attribute Drag Source component from the Component Palette onto each of the First Name and Last Name input fields. JDeveloper then prompts for which attribute of the component you want to drag. For example, you could drag the label, but in this case you want to drag the data value in the input text field, so select value. You can then drag and drop an Attribute Drag Target component as a child of the E-mail Address input text field, again, choosing value as the attribute you want the drop operation to act upon. Figure 15-2 shows the attribute drag-and-drop components. TIP If you have trouble locating any of the ADF Faces components in the Component Palette, you can type the name, or part of the name, into the search panel at the top of the Component Palette.
