The application hierarchy is another navigation tool within the ABAP workbench, which documents and displays the structure of the developments or the whole application. The application hierarchy includes the whole organization and structure for all the R/3 standard business applications. When starting the application hierarchy, you can display or manage two types of structures: SAP standard or customer applications. To start the application hierarchy, from the initial ABAP workbench screen, select Overview Applic. Hierarchy and then either select SAP or Customer. Selecting the SAP hierarchy only displays the structure, whereas Customer displays full management. Selecting the SAP application hierarchy displays all the modules or functional applications which make up the whole SAP system. Navigating and expanding the folders, you will find two types of appellation nodes: title nodes and development nodes. Title nodes are only used for the purpose of documenting clearly the application hierarchy, assigning a title to it. However, development nodes have an associated development class which makes a direct link with all the objects assigned to that development class. Double clicking on any of the development nodes presents a new list with the object types associated with that particular development class. 210
