To create a GUI title object, on the initial Menu Painter screen, select the Title radio button, enter the name for the title, and click on the Create push button. On the title screen, enter the title number and the description the actual text you want to appear in the title of the user interface.

Similar to most workbench objects, the GUI status must be generated to become active in the runtime system. To generate the status, click on the Generate icon in the application toolbar or select User interface Generate from the menu. Previous to this, you can test the user interface by calling the User interface Test status function. The system displays a dialog box to specify the screen number you want to use to test the user interface and the title identifier to display.

The procedure for activating or deactivating GUI status functions is as follows: Display the GUI status. From the menu, select Function activation In current status. The system shows a dialog window with two push buttons that allows users to display all the functions, both activated and deactivated, from that GUI status. Removing the check mark from a specific activated function will deactivate that function. Adding a check mark will activate the function. If you want to activate or deactivate functions from more than one GUI status, proceed as follows: Display the GUI status. Select Function activation In several statuses. The system displays a dialog window, in which you must enter the code of the function to activate or deactivate. The system displays the status of the function on the different GUI statuses where the function is defined. Removing the check mark for a GUI status will deactivate the function for that status. Adding the check mark will activate the function.

Introduction to Area Menus
Conceptually, an area menu is a transaction which calls other transactions or functions. The difference between it and a normal user interface is that an area menu is a user interface which is not related to any Dialog program or any Screen Painter screen. To create an area menu, from the initial ABAP workbench, select Development Other tools Area menus. The system displays the initial area menu editor as shown in Fig. 7 28.

In the initial area menu editor, enter a code for the area menu in the input field, click on the Create button, and enter a description for the area menu. Then, click on Continue. The system will display the Maintain area menu screen, which is very similar to the GUI status maintenance screen. In this screen: Enter the windows title in the Title field. Explode the menu bar. Enter the menu name in menu bar field. Double click on the menu name. Enter the transaction function codes in the Code column. Enter the menu item names in the Text column. After entering this information, save your definition and generate the area menu. You can test this area by selecting Area Menu Test.
