Warning The following example can only be followed under the circumstances and with the requirements described. For productive installations, please contact a SAP or Oracle specialist who can guide you through this type or other types of copying a full customer database. Since there are other possibilities and situations, you can, however, apply some of the following concepts to complement other solutions. In the following example, a full database copy from the development system to a test system is performed. No backup copy and restore is used in this case, since the SAP system names (SID) are to be preserved differently. This is the starting situation: The source system is the development system, with the name SS1. The target system is a test system, with the name TT1, and SAP R/3 is installed in both systems with the same SAP and Oracle versions. The procedure for performing the full export and import differs slightly depending on the total size of the export file. In this example, it is assumed that the operating system environment will support the file size generated by the export. Some 32 bit operating systems have some restrictions on this issue of files not larger than 2 GB. If the estimated size for the export dump file is larger than the size supported by your operating system, then a different procedure must be followed. Possibilities are to perform the export to named pipes, to tapes, to several dump files, and so on. Guidelines are as follows: 1. For safety reasons, perform a full offline backup of both system databases. 2. SAP instances must be stopped in both systems. The database must be started in administrator mode. 3. Check the actual total space for the tablespaces of the source system (SSI). To do this, you can use the sapdba functions:
Create QR In VS .NET
Using Barcode creator for ASP.NET Control to generate, create Quick Response Code image in ASP.NET applications.
Encoding QR Code JIS X 0510 In VS .NET
Using Barcode generator for VS .NET Control to generate, create Denso QR Bar Code image in VS .NET applications.

Using Barcode maker for .NET framework Control to generate, create Denso QR Bar Code image in VS .NET applications.
Draw European Article Number 13 In None
Using Barcode drawer for Software Control to generate, create European Article Number 13 image in Software applications.
4. Using the same functions in the target system (TT1), make sure that this system has at least the same total space as the development system. For those tablespaces that are not large enough, and also for those in which the source system had a large % Alloc, you should extend the tablespace size by adding new data files. You can do this from the sapdba menu:

Encode Code 128C In None
Using Barcode creator for Software Control to generate, create Code-128 image in Software applications.
Encoding UCC - 12 In None
Using Barcode creator for Software Control to generate, create EAN 128 image in Software applications.
5. In the source system, verify you have a working directory large enough to hold the export dump file. If needed, add new disks to get a sufficiently large volume. 6. Perform the export in the source system in the working directory. In the example, use the Oracle exp utility. On Windows NT systems, this utility is exp80 (for Oracle 8 databases). You can either make a shell script or use it interactively:

Case Study: Guidelines for an Export/Import Procedure of a Customer Database Then it will request the array fetch buffer size. You can either leave the default value (4096) or enter a bigger one, such as 20,490. Next, the exp tool requests the name for the export file. For the example, it will be called export.dmp. Notice that this file is created in the current directory. In this example, the directory is /oracle/SS1/sapreorg. Next, the system requests what is to be exported: (1)E(ntire database), (2)U(sers), or (3)T(ables): (2)U>. Enter 1 for entire database. To the following questions, select the default answer yes:

Export grants (yes/no) : yes > Export table data (yes/no) : yes > Compress extents (yes/no) : yes >
The exp utility has many options and can be also called using a parameter file. Depending on the Oracle release, other options might appear. Choose standard or default settings except those indicated in the example. After the last prompt, the system starts exporting the full database into the export.dmp file. The following command performs the same operation:
