Call Info This is a way for SIP to provide additional information about either the called party or the calling party. For example, the calling party may send an ICON as a representation of themselves, along with a business card (using vcard, for example) to the called party. Contact The CONTACT field is used to identify the URI, or the TEL URI, or the MAIL URL that should be used to contact the user agent sending a request, associated with an established dialog. Depending on the request type, multiple URIs could be identified in the CONTACT field. The only stipulation is that the URI should be the same as the TO field. If the TO field contains a SIPS URI, then the CONTACT field should also be a SIPS URI. When there are multiple URIs in the CONTACT field, the q parameter is used to indicate which order the URIs should be used. For example, the lowest numbers could be processed first, in sequential order. A redirect server uses the CONTACT field to indicate alternative URIs if requests are being redirected to another address. It should also be noted that when the CONTACT is being used, responses could be routed directly to the address provided in the header, in essence bypassing the proxies used to originally reach the device. In cases such as IMS networks where strict routing is implemented, the CONTACT header simply provides additional addresses for the device; it is not used for routing purposes. The EXPIRES parameter indicates in seconds when a URI provided in the header is to expire. If the value is 0, then the URI is to expire immediately. A user agent can renew a registration prior to expiration by sending a REGISTER message to the same registrar before the URI expires. A list of sessions can be renewed with one REGISTER message as long as the sessions all belong to the user agent, using the same CALL ID.
