This concept is difficult for many practitioners to understand. If you have trouble with it, you can think of it this way: the group represented in the bridge and outrigger is itself a characteristic of the dimension. If the group undergoes a change, the thing represented by the dimension has changed. Although some developers like to time-stamp the rows in the attribute bridge table, observe that a time stamp on the dimension table itself is sufficient. It captures the period of time during which the particular grouping was in effect for the dimension row. Placing time stamps in the bridge table does not add any information. Moreover, it now requires a separate group for each company that participates in the same set of industries. Timestamping bridge table rows usually only makes sense for dimension bridge tables, as in the previous section.
