To make a document easily accessible for many users, you can publish it on a document management server (such as SharePoint, shown in Figure 12-5 and also a little later in Figures 12-6 and 12-7). The document management server enables users to collaborate by sharing documents and information. Team members access the documents and information on a team web site. Businesses can choose from several sources for this service.

Creating a Document Workspace
A document workspace is a web site available within the SharePoint web site. You can create a document workspace to work with a document that is stored in a document library. The workspace web site is equipped with several management tools that enable you to share files, update files, and track and report the status of the files (see Figure 12-7).
Figure 12-7 Team members can share documents in a document workspace. When you post your Word document to the site, it is copied to the document library. You can work with Word or Word XML documents. You can work with your copy of the document directly in Word, or you can work with the file on the document workspace site. Then, you simply update your second copy. Team members can also access your document at the same time you are working with it. You can monitor changes to the document when others access and edit the copy you make available on the document workspace. You can also share the document with others and keep your own copy synchronized.

Creating a Web Page
Creating a web page is the same as creating a typical Word document. If you are planning on developing a few basic pages, you can quickly create them in Word. However, if you plan to create a complex web site, you can work more efficiently using applications such as Microsoft FrontPage or Dreamweaver because these applications automate many of the formatting and design features that you would want to use. The following list provides some suggestions for creating a web page document: As you create the page, display it in Web Layout view so you know how it will appear in a browser. Click the Web Layout button in the Document Views group. Or, click the Web Layout view button in the status bar. Use a table to create the layout for the web page. You can insert text and graphics in the table cells (see Figure 12-8).
