What is ISO/IEC 8859-1?

ISO/IEC-8859-1 is single byte (8-bit) encoded graphic character sets part 1: Latin alphabet No. 1.

ISO/IEC-8859-1 is the default reference character set by Code 128 for extended values 128 - 255



ISO/IEC 8859-1 Character Set

The first 128 characters (values from 0 to 127) in ISO/IEC 8859-1 are all 128 ISO/IEC 646 characters. ISO/IEC 646 is also known as ASCII.

There are no graphical representations for values 128 to 159 inclusive.

The following table shows the mapping of the characters in the upper half of this set to byte values 160 to 255 inclusive.
