Although it s usually more convenient to set up a loan payment as a Scheduled Transaction or repeating Online Payment instruction, as discussed earlier, you can also use the View Loans window to make a loan payment. If necessary, choose the loan account s name from the Choose Loan menu in the button bar to display the information for the loan for which you want to make a payment. Recording Other Asset Transactions
Part of tracking assets is keeping track of their current values and modifying account balances when necessary. Like a bank or investment account, which I discuss in s 5 and 10, activity for an asset account appears in its account register.
Quicken 2009 The Official Guide
One way to open an asset s account register is to click the Net Worth tab, choose the name of the asset account from the pop-up menu in the subtab row, and, if necessary, click the Transactions subtab. Figure 13-2 shows the account register for a house asset account. You can use button bar options to work with an asset account register and its entries:
Delete removes the currently selected transaction. Find enables you to search for transactions in the window. I discuss searching for transactions in 5. Transfer enables you to create a transfer transaction. I cover transfers in 5, too. Update Balance enables you to create a transaction to update the value of the asset. I discuss this option later in this section. View displays a menu of options for sorting and filtering the register window s contents. Report is a menu that offers reporting options for account information. Options is a menu that offers a variety of options for changing the view of the window.
Figure 13-2 The account register for a newly created asset account shows what you paid for the asset, as well as the estimated market value as of the account creation date.
