Word Planet Data Encoding
Planet Valid Character Set
The Planet barcode, same as the Postnet, is one of barcode symbologies used by the US Postal Service Office (USPS) for tracking mail pieces.
A Planet symbol is a fixed length barcode with 12 or 14 digits encoded, in which are 11 or 13 message data plus 1 check digit respectively. All data are only encoded into the height of bars instead of the width of bars and spaces. Planet barcode only encodes numeric characters from 0 through 9:
Planet Valid Character Set: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
Planet Barcode Checksum Digit in Word
The Planet barcode symbology adopts the Mod 10 algorithm. The Word Barcode Add-in, provided by Onabrcode, automatically calculates the checksum digit for Planet Barcode.

If encoding an 11 digits address information into the Planet barcode, for instance, "01234567891", it looks like the following barcode image. The last digit "4" is the check digit computed automatically by the Word Barcode Add-in.
If encoding an 13 digits address information into the Planet barcode, for instance, "0123456789123", it looks like the following barcode image. The last digit "9" is the check digit computed automatically by the Word Barcode Add-in.
Encode data into Planet in Word
- Make sure Word Barcode add-in has been installed
- Open Word and go to the Barcode toolbar->Add Ins tab
- Open the Bar code Panel and select the Planet from the barcode type list
- Enter 11 or 13 digits as you need into the data box
- Configure barcode properties as your requirements.
- Click Update button. A Planet Image display in Word!
